Patricia, The new Congress has officially started, and that means we're preparing for an onslaught of attacks on women's health care. We already know repealing the Affordable Care Act is one of Republicans' top priorities. And Speaker Paul Ryan has made it clear that he'd like to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funds -- further jeopardizing women's access to affordable health care. It's going to be a tough fight, and our women in Congress will be on the front lines. That's exactly why we need to start working now to send them backup in the years to come. Donate to help elect more pro-choice Democratic women to Congress who will stand up to Republican attacks on women's health care: secure.emilyslist.org/page/contribute/20170104_email_100days Speaker Ryan, Senator Mitch McConnell, and their Republican colleagues are going to be taking things to extremes in the new Congress because they know that in just a few short weeks, Donald Trump is going to be the one signing or vetoing bills. We can expect him to sign onto any anti-woman measures they send his way. Without the Affordable Care Act, being a woman would become a pre-existing condition again. Some women would lose access to birth control. Many would lose insurance coverage completely. And federal money is the primary source of Planned Parenthood funding. Stripping it of these funds would threaten health care access for millions of people -- especially women who are on Medicaid or uninsured. We have to be ready to fight this as hard as we can now and start planning ahead to stop Republican majorities like this in the future. It's going to be a tough fight, and our women in Congress will be on the front lines. That's exactly why we need to start working now to send them backup in the years to come.
