Richard Burr, US Senator North Carolina The 115th Congress is off to a productive start. Over the last few weeks, the Senate has been engaged in the important work of evaluating and confirming President Trumps cabinet and executive appointees. As chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, I led the confirmation hearing for CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a key member of the national security team. As a member of the Senate Finance and Health, Education, Pensions, and Labor Committees, I participated in hearings for Education Secretary nominee Betsy DeVos, Health and Human Services nominee Tom Price, and Treasury Secretary nominee Steven Mnuchin. So far, the Senate has voted to confirm several nominees, including CIA Director Mike Pompeo, United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, Defense Secretary General James Mattis, and Secretary of Homeland Security General John Kelly. In 2009, the Senate held confirmation votes on seven of President Obamas nominees on inauguration day. The Senate confirmed five more of President Obamas nominees by the end of his first week in office. President Trump has selected an excellent team. I am looking forward to continuing the confirmation process in the coming weeks so that the Presidents nominees can get to work on behalf of the American people. Survey/Question [survey]
