Dear Friend, The 2016 presidential election marked a seismic shift in the American political landscape—a shift that ruptured the old order and launched our nation on a new trajectory.  Now, with Republicans in control of both Congress and the White House, we have the most significant opportunity in decades to pass meaningful reforms that will jumpstart the economy, strengthen America’s families, and bolster our national defense. In the Senate, I’m fighting harder than ever to advance an ambitious legislative agenda that will bring about the change Utahns have been demanding for years.

Dear Friend,

The 2016 presidential election marked a seismic shift in the American political landscape—a shift that ruptured the old order and launched our nation on a new trajectory.

This week, I’ve traveled across the Beehive State, meeting with families from St. George to Salt Lake to give them an update on my work in the Senate. Here’s a by-the-numbers look at what I’ve been up to in the opening weeks of the new Congress:

By the Numbers: Senator Hatch in the First Two Months of the 115th Congress

125 minutes of face time with the President in the Oval Office. In all my years of government service, I have never experienced so much personal interaction with the President as I now enjoy with Mr. Trump.

For the 2nd time, I served as our country’s designated survivor during a major national event. As much as I wanted to participate in the Presidential Inauguration, I was honored to perform this important constitutional duty, which ensures the continuity of government.

3 visits to the White House in just 8 days. In each of my meetings with the President, I have raised issues of particular importance to Utahns, including the Bears Ears monument designation, Obamacare, and the future of the Supreme Court.

763 bills. The number of laws I have passed coming into this Congress—the most of any legislator alive today. You can be sure that I will pass many more in the months to come.

For the 4th consecutive Congress, my colleagues asked me to serve as Chairman of the Senate Republican High-Tech Task Force. In this capacity, I unveiled an innovation agenda last week to ensure that Utah’s Silicon Slopes and tech hubs around the country will continue to prosper for decades to come.

1.3 million acres.  The amount of land ripped away from Utahns after the Bears Ears monument designation—and the same amount of land I asked President Trump to return to our state during a special meeting at the White House.

6 op-eds. The number of opinion pieces I have written defending Judge Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

14,636 days dedicated to serving the people of Utah as a United States Senator. Earlier this month, I was deeply humbled when Senator Mitch McConnell honored me on the Senate floor shortly after I surpassed the late Senator Ted Stevens to become the longest-serving Republican Senator in U.S. history.

100%—My level of commitment to you and the values we hold dear.

Sincerely,

Orrin
