Grassley Direct

I spoke with Mike Earl of KDSN Radio in Denison and Russ Mitchell of Dickinson County News about President Trump's address to Congress, my 99 county meetings, the Supreme Court nominee, expectations for tax reform, executive nominations and Obamacare repeal and replacement.

Q&A: Supreme Court Nomination

Q. What drives your commitment to strengthen victims’ rights?
Q. How else are you working to advance victims’ rights in this Congress?

Quick Links

On Tuesday evening, President Trump gave his first address to a joint session of Congress. The President delivered an honest assessment of the challenges we face and provided a call to action for Congress and the White House to work together in addressing those challenges. I also recorded a few of my thoughts about the speech in a video

I had a chance to visit with and listen to Mayor Ron Corbett of Cedar Rapids this week when he came to Capitol Hill to provide testimony on common sense flood control policies to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. I am still working with the Army Corps of Engineers to get flood protection projects in Cedar Rapids and around Iowa funded.

I introduced a bill to expand the market for biofuels with colleagues from other ethanol and biofuels-producing states. The bill will allow retailers across the country to sell E15 and other higher-ethanol fuel blends year-round, which should eliminate confusion at the pump and increase regulatory certainty.

I also introduced legislation this week that will give the congressional watchdog arm complete access to American Red Cross records for oversight purposes. The Red Cross responds when tragedy strikes, but at times has resisted answering questions even though it receives federal tax dollars and financial benefits from the federal government.

My regional director for the Sioux City area will be holding open office hours across northwestern Iowa and will be available to take questions, comments and concerns about federal issues from Iowans.
