It would also end Medicaid as we know ithurting seniors, children, and people with disabilities, as well as shifting costs onto already-stretched state budgets. It would cut taxes for the very wealthy and shorten the solvency of Medicare by at least four years. And the Republicansever the guardians of the national treasuryreleased this bill without any report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office on how many people it would cover, how it would change premiums, and how much it would add to the deficit. Frankly, it is unclear what problems the Republican repeal bill will actually solve. It will not help more people become insuredin fact, the American Enterprise Institute estimates that ten to fifteen million Americans will lose their health coverage under the Republican plan. It will not make health insurance more affordablein fact, it will increase out-of-pocket costs for most Americans, especially seniors. And it will not improve the quality of health insurancein fact, it will eliminate many of the currently guaranteed benefits. Perhaps that is why virtually every medical and patient group we have heard from opposes the legislation. For seven years, I've said that if Republicans would take repeal of health care off the table, I'll pull up a chair. But with this reckless bill, Republicans have shown us that the only thing they are serious about is cutting taxes for the wealthy, increasing out-of-pocket costs for middle-class families and seniors, and throwing people off their health insurance plans. <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx rop=15311.12247720.9049209.7246002&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww youtube.com%2fwatch%3fv%3dkDFZgK1Nv6I&redir_log=405424963852289> Sincerely, Dick Durbin United States Senator <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/Customers/SenDurbin/Website_foot er.PNG> <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx rop=15311.12247720.9049209.7246002&report_id=&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fwww. durbin.senate.gov%2fcontact%2fnewsletter%2funsubscribe&redir_log=0735230 51375425> Click here to open a plain text version of this email <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet//view_newsletter_setup.aspx n_text=Y&link=SenDurbin%2501104122%250103-10-2017%2bThe%2bGOP%25e2%2580% 2599s%2bReckless%2bHealth%2bCare%2bRepeal%2bPlan%2bWill%2bHurt%2bMiddle- Class%2bFamilies%2b_%2bSeniors%250115311.12247720.9049209.7246002%2501du rbin%2540unityfeed.com%2501Friend%2501%2501%2501> Click here to forward this email <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet//view_newsletter_setup.aspx ard=Y&link=SenDurbin%2501104122%250103-10-2017%2bThe%2bGOP%25e2%2580%259 9s%2bReckless%2bHealth%2bCare%2bRepeal%2bPlan%2bWill%2bHurt%2bMiddle-Cla ss%2bFamilies%2b_%2bSeniors%250115311.12247720.9049209.7246002%2501durbi n%2540unityfeed.com%2501Friend%2501%2501%2501> Click here to open this e-mail in its own browser window <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet//view_newsletter_setup.aspx =SenDurbin%2501104122%250103-10-2017%2bThe%2bGOP%25e2%2580%2599s%2bReckl ess%2bHealth%2bCare%2bRepeal%2bPlan%2bWill%2bHurt%2bMiddle-Class%2bFamil ies%2b_%2bSeniors%250115311.12247720.9049209.7246002%2501durbin%2540unit yfeed.com%2501Friend%2501%2501%2501> Click here to comment on this email <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet//view_newsletter_setup.aspx y=Y&link=SenDurbin%2501104122%250103-10-2017%2bThe%2bGOP%25e2%2580%2599s %2bReckless%2bHealth%2bCare%2bRepeal%2bPlan%2bWill%2bHurt%2bMiddle-Class %2bFamilies%2b_%2bSeniors%250115311.12247720.9049209.7246002%2501durbin% 2540unityfeed.com%2501Friend%2501%2501%2501>

Fellow Illinoisan,

This week, House Republicans finally revealed their plan to repeal health care. It would cause millions of Americans to lose their health insurance, increase costs for seniors and middle-class families, and cut benefits. Organizations like the AARP, the American Medical Association, and the American Nurses Association have already spoken out to condemn this reckless bill.

Click here to watch me speak on the U.S. Senate floor about the Republican’s reckless bill to repeal health care.

The Republican’s plan wouldn’t just cause millions of people across the country to lose their health insurance and increase costs for middle-class families and seniors.

For seven years, I’ve said that if Republicans would take repeal of health care off the table, I’ll pull up a chair. But with this reckless bill, Republicans have shown us that the only thing they are serious about is cutting taxes for the wealthy, increasing out-of-pocket costs for middle-class families and seniors, and throwing people off their health insurance plans.

Sincerely,

Dick Durbin
United States Senator
