A few months ago, we wrote asking for you to trust us, to invest in community organizing efforts -- because we knew our country would be facing unprecedented challenges. Years of hard work and progress would be on the line, and we wanted to be ready.
And you came through. We launched into this year, building out a program that put staff in key states, developed online platforms to help constituents reach out directly to their lawmakers, organized campaign calls, online trainings, and events for tens of thousands of concerned citizens, and kick-started fellowships that are training people not just to take action today, but to become long-term leaders of the movement.
That's all because of people like you, stepping up.
And last week, we got unmistakable proof that it's working: On Friday, Obamacare opponents finally got their chance at repeal -- and because of the grassroots pressure, lawmakers backed off.
Make no mistake: This administration is going to keep trying to chip away at the progress we have made. We've won an important battle, but the fight is just beginning. But if we stay strong, we can continue to thwart them. We're taking stock at the end of this week and figuring out how forcefully we can keep up the fight -- chip in whatever you can today to help this work continue before the deadline:
Your support helped OFA volunteers and organizers hold more than 1,000 events in 43 states, make more than 40,000 calls to members of Congress, and gather more than 800,000 petition signatures to stop the rush to repeal Obamacare. That couldn't have happened without you.
Moments like these underscore the power of our collective efforts, and the impact organizing can have when we invest in this movement.
Work like this doesn't happen on its own. It depends on the support of people like you to keep it going. But we know, without a doubt, that it can work if we stick together and stay the course -- help keep this movement going strong by pitching in before our fundraising deadline this Friday.
