Unprecedented.

Dear Friend, Today marks a proud moment in our nation’s history: After weeks of intense deliberation, the Senate has confirmed Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court. Judge Gorsuch is now Justice Gorsuch and our democracy is once again in good hands.    I praised Gorsuch on the Senate floor, describing "Neil Gorsuch's America."  Gorsuch comes to the Supreme Court with a near encyclopedic knowledge of the law and a wealth of judicial experience. His temperament is well-suited for the solemn work of our nation’s highest court. And his bulletproof record on the federal bench shows that he will put our Constitution and the rule of law above any popular opinion or political agenda. More than any nominee that I’ve seen in my lifetime, Judge Gorsuch understands the importance of his role in our system of limited self-government. Supreme Court Justices are more than mere arbiters of the law; they are the caretakers of our Constitution. And so we place in them a great deal of trust. Judge Gorsuch is worthy of that trust, as he made abundantly clear over the course of his confirmation hearing. Although Judge Gorsuch was among the most qualified candidates ever nominated to the Supreme Court, securing his confirmation wasn’t easy. To satisfy the demands of an extreme political base, Democrats stooped to new lows in a feckless attempt to block Gorsuch’s confirmation. Progressives have frequently used partisan gimmicks to politicize the confirmation process in the past. But this year, they outdid themselves. In round after round of brutal questioning, Democrats pushed and prodded the esteemed nominee, at times, deliberately misrepresenting his record and even engaging in personal attacks. Yet Gorsuch stayed the course. With his even-keeled responses to their politically motivated questions, he proved that he is above the partisan fray—just as a Supreme Court Justice should be.   Over the last few months I've taken the case for Judge Gorsuch all around the country Still, Democrats persisted in their obstruction. Even as their attacks backfired, my friends on the Left dug in their heels, staging the first partisan filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee in the history of the United States Senate. This action was unprecedented but not unexpected. For years, Democrats have escalated the confirmation wars; sadly, their decision to filibuster was par for the course. But yet again, Democrats failed. The American people saw through their hollow attacks and baseless allegations. In the end, the majority of my colleagues agreed with what I have been saying for months: Judge Gorsuch is undeniably qualified to serve on the Supreme Court. And so today, the Senate voted in favor of Judge Gorsuch’s confirmation.   To date, I have participated in the confirmations of 14 Supreme Court Justices. In all that time, I have never seen a better nominee than Judge Neil Gorsuch. Over the last several weeks, I have made my support for Judge Gorsuch known in a number of op-eds and speeches on the Senate floor. If you missed any of these speeches or op-eds, I encourage you to visit the links below and share them with friends and family. With Judge Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, Americans have real cause for celebration. I am confident that he will honor our Founding principles and do the nation proud.  Sincerely,    Orrin

Dear Friend,

Today marks a proud moment in our nation’s history: After weeks of intense deliberation, the Senate has confirmed Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court. Judge Gorsuch is now Justice Gorsuch and our democracy is once again in good hands.

I praised Gorsuch on the Senate floor, describing "Neil Gorsuch's America."

Gorsuch comes to the Supreme Court with a near encyclopedic knowledge of the law and a wealth of judicial experience. His temperament is well-suited for the solemn work of our nation’s highest court. And his bulletproof record on the federal bench shows that he will put our Constitution and the rule of law above any popular opinion or political agenda.

Still, Democrats persisted in their obstruction.
