Patricia, After I left EMILY's List in 2005, I always suspected I might come back. And now, as I wrap up my second stint, I wouldn't rule out returning again. The reason is simple. There is something truly special about this community -- one I'm proud to have seen grow from three to five million people strong in my three years here. This community is the one you want in your corner for the tough fights, whether you're a former Harvard professor taking on a popular Republican incumbent in Massachusetts, trying to break the Senate glass ceiling for Latinas, or even running for president. And this community never fails to rise to the occasion. I'm so incredibly proud that we raised a combined $90 million for our candidates last cycle -- resources that helped elect four new women to the Senate and eight new women to the House, including nine women of color. The presidential election was heartbreaking for me, as it was for all of us. But the energy after the election, from the millions of women who marched the day after the inauguration to the more than 12,000 women who've reached out to EMILY's List about running for office, has been a tonic for me. The resistance is strong, and EMILY's List will continue to play a critical role in it. So as I finish up my tenure as executive director, I wanted to make sure I said one thing directly to this community with heartfelt gratitude: Thank you. We haven't won every battle. But we have never, ever let the fear of failure stop us from giving our all. And in the spirit of EMILY's List, I leave you with one final ask -- keep giving it your all, and chip in a little to keep the fight going: secure.emilyslist.org/page/contribute/20170505_email_JOCFarewell It's been a pleasure to lead this community which inspires me every single day. Keep fighting. Thank you, Jess O'Connell Executive Director, EMILY's List

Patricia,

After I left EMILY's List in 2005, I always suspected I might come back.

And now, as I wrap up my second stint, I wouldn't rule out returning again.

The reason is simple. There is something truly special about this community — one I'm proud to have seen grow from three to five million people strong in my three years here.

This community is the one you want in your corner for the tough fights, whether you're a former Harvard professor taking on a popular Republican incumbent in Massachusetts, trying to break the Senate glass ceiling for Latinas, or even running for president.

And this community never fails to rise to the occasion. I'm so incredibly proud that we raised a combined $90 million for our candidates last cycle — resources that helped elect four new women to the Senate and eight new women to the House, including nine women of color.

So as I finish up my tenure as executive director, I wanted to make sure I said one thing directly to this community with heartfelt gratitude:

Thank you.

We haven't won every battle. But we have never, ever let the fear of failure stop us from giving our all.

And in the spirit of EMILY's List, I leave you with one final ask — keep giving it your all, and chip in a little to keep the fight going:
