First of all, I want to thank all my friends and fellow West Virginians for your continued support and confidence in me. I truly look forward to standing up for our great state and serving each and every one of you for the next six years. Congress is back in session, and we must focus like a laser on the fiscal cliff that is coming at the end of the year. I assure you, I will do everything in my power to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to put in place a big fix to our nation's broken finances. Please stay in touch with this weekly eNewsletter to read about upcoming events in our beautiful state and in Washington, learn about my legislative work and share the latest news from my office. __________________________________________ Achieving an All-of-the-Above Energy Approach It was an honor to join my colleagues Senator Mark Udall (D-CO), Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) and Congressman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) this week at an important conversation about our energy future at a panel hosted by POLITICO. We had a great discussion about the need to find a balanced approach between the environment, meeting our energy needs and our economy. As we look forward to 2013 and as a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, I have never been more optimistic than I am right now about achieving an all-of-the-above energy policy. Under the leadership of both Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), I know we can find real ways to work together to use all of our energy resources. To me, an all-of-the-above approach means using our coal, natural gas, wind, nuclear, solar, biomass and other fuels of the future so that we can, once and for all, end our dependence on foreign oil within this generation. In the months ahead, I am strongly committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to develop a realistic and responsible clean energy policy for the future that balance the needs of our economy and our environment. _________________________________________ <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx manchin-iq&crop=17973.10618488.10455898.14212520&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fm anchin.senate.gov%2fpublic%2findex.cfm%2fi-hire-veterans> November 16, 2012 Recent Photos Manchin joins his colleagues at a POLITICO panel to discuss the future of America's energy policy <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/Customers/quorum_manchin-iq/ PoliticoJMHoeven.jpg> <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/Customers/quorum_manchin-iq/ Politicoenergypanel.jpg> ____________________ In The News - Week of November 16, 2012 <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx manchin-iq&crop=17973.10618488.10455898.14212520&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fm anchin.senate.gov%2fpublic%2findex.cfm%2fpress-releases%3fID%3da2c950ee- 8b40-4a8b-8ee9-a23a4d32d556> <manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases 9f7-43b5-8854-56f1583525f0> <manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases b40-4a8b-8ee9-a23a4d32d556> <manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases 9f7-43b5-8854-56f1583525f0> <manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases b40-4a8b-8ee9-a23a4d32d556> <manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases 9f7-43b5-8854-56f1583525f0> <manchin.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases 9f7-43b5-8854-56f1583525f0> Manchin, Rockefeller, 11 Additional Senators Request Disaster Aid for Superstorm Sandy in 2013 Budget <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx manchin-iq&crop=17973.10618488.10455898.14212520&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fm anchin.senate.gov%2fpublic%2findex.cfm%2fpress-releases%3fID%3da396238d- 3fba-44c6-8b4c-de40a4210ac3> Manchin, Rockefeller & Rahall Urge West Virginians Affected by Derecho to Apply for FEMA Assistance <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx manchin-iq&crop=17973.10618488.10455898.14212520&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fm anchin.senate.gov%2fpublic%2findex.cfm%2fpress-releases%3fID%3d2080ae7d- e28b-4624-8cb5-09a051128856> Manchin Bill Would Increase Sportsmen's Access to Public Lands, Preserve Hunting and Fishing Rights <iqs3.solutions.lmit.com/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx manchin-iq&crop=17973.10618488.10455898.14212520&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fm anchin.senate.gov%2fpublic%2findex.cfm%2fpress-releases%3fID%3d0ab3264f- 6cd9-45db-83da-aeecee834998> _________________________ Manchin's Message from the Hill to the Mountains Thank you, West Virginia Thank you, West Virginia, for your continued support and confidence in me.
