A message from US Senator Todd Young <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/Customers/SenYoung/Todd_Young_Ba nner_logo2.png> Modernize the Foster Placement System & Help Foster Kids Thrive Along with a bipartisan group of my colleagues, last week I took steps to modernize our strained foster care system. Currently, states use antiquated paper-based systems to process and approve foster placement cases. Implementing an already proven electronic system will more quickly get children placed into loving and stable homes where they can thrive. We should do everything possible to help enable these children to reach their full potential. Imploring Ethiopia to Let Families Bring Their Children Home

As Ethiopia continues to delay reunification of families and their legally adopted children, I elevated the public campaign calling on the Ethiopian government to reverse its harmful adoption suspension.

I was joined by 121 of my colleagues in sending a letter to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia calling for the country to reverse its suspension. Read more here: https://www.young.senate.gov/content/adoption-ban-leaves-200-us-families-their-adopted-children-heartbreaking-limbo-bipartisan-%E2%80%93

Four Famines Resolution Gains Support & Clears Committee

My bipartisan resolution calling for an urgent and comprehensive diplomatic effort to help prevent millions of people from starving to death moved one step closer to being enacted in the Senate.

Our Foreign Policy Shouldn’t Be Developed in Stovepipes

Along with Senator Shaheen of New Hampshire, I introduced a proposal to significantly improve how the federal government creates its foreign policy strategy. Each year, the United States examines and establishes foreign policy objectives that advance our interests and values. For these efforts to be successful, reform and reorganization should follow – not precede – the development of a bipartisan national diplomacy and defense strategy.
