GA Special Election Alert (PFAW)

A new message from your friends at People For the American Way. Anne, As Election Day nears, Republicans are sinking lower and lower in the Georgia special congressional election ... and the latest TV ad from the National Republican Congressional Committee is downright disgusting. The ad recklessly links Syrian refugees to ISIS and essentially accuses Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff of aiding terrorists. Can you make an emergency donation to help us overcome the GOP's filthy smear tactics and flip this Republican seat by electing progressive Jon Ossoff? site.pfaw.org/site/R The tactic of attacking Democrats' patriotism and tying them to terrorists has become a staple of elections in Georgia -- because it has worked there in the past. In 2002, Republicans swift-boated Democratic Senator Max Cleland -- a war hero who lost both his legs and arm on the battlefield -- by attacking his patriotism and running TV ads tying him to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Clearly Republicans are desperate to stop us from flipping the first GOP congressional seat since Trump was elected and House Republicans voted to take away healthcare from 23 million people, especially since the most recent polls show Jon Ossoff is maintaining a small lead over their far-right candidate Karen Handel. Handel is unabashedly running on her record as a vote suppressor and enemy of low-income women's access to healthcare, and has been cozying up to Trump big time to make sure her base stays energized. So it's no wonder that Ossoff is now edging her out in the polls, but Max Cleland was also ahead in the polls before the Republican slime machine began the smears against him that they are now trying against Jon Ossoff... We need to redouble our voter mobilization efforts now to make sure voters know the truth -- both about the dishonesty of these smears and about Karen Handel's extremism. I know we just had an end-of-month fundraising deadline and we asked you for money more than once over the last few days, but this is urgent. Can you rush a donation to help us defeat Karen Handel and the Republican slime machine -- and FLIP Georgia's 6th District? site.pfaw.org/site/R Thanks for everything. Anne,

As Election Day nears, Republicans are sinking lower and lower in the Georgia special congressional election … and the latest TV ad from the National Republican Congressional Committee is downright disgusting.

The ad recklessly links Syrian refugees to ISIS and essentially accuses Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff of aiding terrorists.

The tactic of attacking Democrats’ patriotism and tying them to terrorists has become a staple of elections in Georgia -- because it has worked there in the past.

Handel is unabashedly running on her record as a vote suppressor and enemy of low-income women’s access to healthcare, and has been cozying up to Trump big time to make sure her base stays energized.

So it’s no wonder that Ossoff is now edging her out in the polls, but Max Cleland was also ahead in the polls before the Republican slime machine began the smears against him that they are now trying against Jon Ossoff…

We need to redouble our voter mobilization efforts now to make sure voters know the truth -- both about the dishonesty of these smears and about Karen Handel’s extremism.

I know we just had an end-of-month fundraising deadline and we asked you for money more than once over the last few days, but this is urgent.

Thanks for everything. Your support and activism are going to be what saves this country from Trump Republicans.
