The people who draw the maps

Patricia, Here's some real talk that may surprise you: Republicans don't hold a majority in the House because they're more popular. They have a majority because they've distorted congressional districts to make SURE they win. They carve up states into bizarrely shaped districts to contain Democratic voters and make districts easier for Republicans to win. This process, called gerrymandering, has resulted in more Republicans winning seats in Congress and state legislatures. Once elected, they pass a bunch of laws that make it harder to vote, further blocking Democratic-leaning voters from electing officials who actually share their values. This entire situation is fundamentally undemocratic. But here's the good news: After 2020, states get to redraw these districts, and this time, we can help make sure our votes are protected. Donate $3 to help elect pro-choice Democratic women who will put a stop to GOP gerrymandering and restore the rights of Democratic voters: secure.emilyslist.org/page/contribute/20170618_email_Gerrymander Here's why electing pro-choice Democratic women NOW is important: If we make gains in state legislatures and governors' offices in 2018, those are the folks who will be sitting at the tables that draw district maps in 2020. The GOP only got this leg up in the first place because they won so many races in 2010. They quickly got to work making sure that they'd hold their majorities for the next decade, and it's been an uphill climb for Democratic candidates ever since. Stopping anti-choice, anti-woman, and anti-family legislation doesn't just mean backing the right candidates. We also have to fix the lopsided field that makes it easier for Republicans to win and disempowers Democratic voters at the same time. NOW is the time to get to work. Patricia,

Here's some real talk that may surprise you:

Republicans don't hold a majority in the House because they're more popular.

Donate $3 to help elect pro-choice Democratic women who will put a stop to GOP gerrymandering and restore the rights of Democratic voters.

Here's why electing pro-choice Democratic women NOW is important: If we make gains in state legislatures and governors' offices in 2018, those are the folks who will be sitting at the tables that draw district maps in 2020.

Donate $3 to elect pro-choice Democratic women as state legislators and governors so they can put a stop to the GOP's manipulation of our democracy:
