As we celebrate these freedoms first declared on July 4, 1776, we must also remember and celebrate the many warriors who have protected these rights for centuries. This Independence Day, we echo President Bush’s 2006 Independence Day Proclamation: “We offer our gratitude to all the American patriots, past and present, who have sought to advance freedom and lay the foundations of peace. Because of their sacrifice, this country remains a beacon of hope for all who dream of liberty and a shining example to the world of what a free people can achieve.” Help us celebrate these veterans by visiting our special exhibit, Portraits of Courage. <forms.bushcenter.org/page.redir While in the gallery, you’ll be inspired by the heroic men and women who helped secure our liberty…and you’ll learn about the steps we can all take to help our post-9/11 veterans make a successful transition to civilian life, including employment and addressing invisible wounds.
