Most of us do -- but the current President of the United States does not, and he promised the Right Wing that he would do all he can to destroy one barrier protecting this separation -- the Johnson Amendment. The Johnson Amendment is a provision of the tax code that prevents nonprofit organizations, including houses of worship, from supporting or opposing political candidates. It keeps them separate from politics, protecting their integrity and allowing them to focus on fulfilling their mission rather than political advocacy. Religious and nonprofit leaders still have the opportunity to educate and advocate for policies that benefit members of their communities under the Johnson Amendment. There is no good reason to eliminate it! Dear Anne,

Do you believe that separation of church and state is a founding American value? Most of us do -- but the current President of the United States does not, and he promised the Right Wing that he would do all he can to destroy one barrier protecting this separation -- the Johnson Amendment.

The Johnson Amendment is a provision of the tax code that prevents nonprofit organizations, including houses of worship, from supporting or opposing political candidates. It keeps them separate from politics, protecting their integrity and allowing them to focus on fulfilling their purpose rather than political advocacy.

Let's protect this founding American value -- please add your name to protect the Johnson Amendment today>>

The Johnson Amendment makes sure that nonprofits serve their communities without letting the divisiveness of politics interrupt their missions. Religious and nonprofit leaders still have the opportunity to educate and advocate for policies that benefit members of their communities under the Johnson Amendment. There is no good reason to eliminate it!

Please join us and stand up for separation of church and state!

Thank you for everything you do!
