Dear Unity,

With your help, last week we temporarily defeated the Senate majority’s disastrous health care bill, but our work is far from over. In fact, the fight to protect our life-saving health care has just begun.

There’s no way around it: The effects of this bill are downright diabolical. This plan would leave 22 million Americans (including 400,000 Oregonians who rely on the Oregon Health Plan) out in the cold, without any coverage. It would decimate Medicaid, which 60% of seniors in nursing homes rely on to pay for their care. According to the head of the Oregon Health Association, “if this bill passes, it literally could force the closure of the majority of nursing facilities in Oregon by 2025.”

That’s why this week, I joined Senator Wyden and health care advocates in Eugene -- where premiums could go up as much as 518% under this plan -- to stand up against this assault on accessible, affordable coverage for all.

The Senate majority wants us to think this is over, but we can’t afford to get complacent. Now more than ever, we need YOU to stand up against this assault on our health care. Share your story on how this plan to repeal the ACA and replace it with this cruel plan would be a disaster for Oregonians.

The first 3 words in our Constitution are “We the People,” and in our “We the People” democracy, it’s the people’s voices that matter. So let’s send a message loud and clear: we will protect our care!

All my best,
Jeff
