Dear Unity,

While I was back home in Oregon during last week’s July 4 recess, I held six town halls in rural Oregon and heard firsthand from Oregonians that the Senate majority's health plan would be a nightmare for our state.

From the left, right, and center, folks at my town halls have expressed major concerns with the new health care bill. And it's no wonder: this bill is not in the best interests of “We the People.” It would leave 22 million Americans (including 400,000 Oregonians who rely on the Oregon Health Plan) out in the cold, without any coverage. Some of the most vulnerable Oregonians -- children, expectant mothers,  -- would be hit with the most devastating impacts, as the bill would eviscerate Medicaid, jack up costs, impose a “pregnancy tax” for new mothers, and create a giant loophole that threatens coverage for Americans with preexisting conditions. Hard-working Oregonians will face unaffordable costs to get care, or worse, lose their coverage altogether.

When across Oregon, I heard from administrators, nurses and residents about the critical need to protect Medicaid. Two-thirds of all nursing home residents, and all of the that residents I met, rely on Medicaid to keep them in nursing home care. Under this plan, middle-class Oregonians lose their nursing home care and a . 68,000 seniors in Oregon can afford long-term care and assisted living thanks to the Oregon Health Plan. This bill puts their lives in jeopardy.

YOUR grassroots power was powerful enough to delay the Senate majority's disastrous health plan, but we need to keep up the fight to make sure this diabolical plan never becomes a reality. Thanks to YOUR uprising, this bill is teetering. Let’s give it the final push. Don’t let up!

Share your story on how this plan to repeal the ACA and replace it with this bill would affect you and your loved ones. We need to shine a light on the cruelty of this plan and make sure it doesn't pass. Now's the time!

All my best,
Jeff
