You may have already seen it, but there was some major news this week regarding your religious freedom. The U.S. Supreme Court has
agreed to hear a significant case regarding freedom of conscience.
They are going to decide whether we, as Christians, must promote messages and events inconsistent with our faith. I know it
sounds crazy, but that is truly what is at stake.
Jack Phillips ran his business according to his faith and is being attacked for doing
The case involves a cake artist and small-business owner named Jack Phillips.
Nearly five years ago, Jack politely declined to create a cake for two men having a same-sex wedding. When asked, Jack simply gave them the
same answer he would give to someone requesting a custom cake with a witchcraft theme or one with a lewd message: I’m sorry, but I
can’t promote messages that violate my beliefs, though I'd be happy to sell you anything else.
Since he made that decision, he has been attacked by the ACLU and the Colorado Civil Rights Commission and been criticized for merely
exercising freedoms protected by the United States Constitution.
The good news is that Jack is not standing alone. Alliance Defending Freedom has defended Jack free of charge and will continue to do so now
that his case is before the Supreme Court. We’ve defeated activist organizations many times before; we’ve also won landmark cases at the
Supreme Court like Reed v. Town of Gilbert, Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia v. Comer, and Conestoga
Wood Specialties v. Burwell, the famous “Hobby Lobby” case against the Obamacare abortion-pill mandate.
Jack Phillips’ case is going to be one of the most important Supreme Court decisions in our lifetime. The outcome of this ruling
will impact how all Christians, you and I included, are able to freely live out their faith.
We have a clear path to victory but our opposition is strong. Organizations like the ACLU are extremely well-funded; we need to ensure that we
are equally equipped to handle the long fight ahead.
We’re looking for 1 million people to give $20 or more today, to ensure that Jack has the
funds he needs to win at the Supreme Court.
When you give, you won’t stand alone. Generous ministry friends have already given a $2 million dollar matching grant, which will double
the amount of your gift today.
Will you stand with Jack—and help defend our right as Americans to freely live out our
