Demand That Missouri State Senator
On August 17,
Missouri State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal (D-MO) wrote on Facebook,
“I hope Trump is assassinated!” A death threat to the
President of the United States is a national security risk.
It's challenging enough having to
combat radical terrorist threats from civilians, we don't need elected
officials adding to that challenge. How can we expect those who
represent us to defend us from danger, when they are making death
threats themselves towards our Commander-in-Chief?
Since then, Sen. Chappelle-Nadal has
received backlash, even from those within her own party. Senator
Claire McCaskill, Congressman Lacy Clay, and the Missouri Democratic
Party Chair, Stephen Webber, have all called for her resignation.
Lieutenant Governor Mike Parsons has said that if she does not resign
by veto session, September 13, he will move to have her expelled from
Unfortunately, Sen. Chappelle-Nadal has not
gotten the message and still has not resigned, despite being removed
from senate committee assignments. As we all know, this is not good
enough. No person should be able to serve in any governmental capacity
after wishing for the murder of a President. Period.
this be clear: What Sen. Chappelle-Nadal did was a felony. It was a
criminal act and sets dangerous precedent if she is not expelled from
the Missouri senate.
Lt. Gov. Parsons is going to pursue
Sen. Chappelle-Nadal’s expulsion, which means the Missouri senate will
vote on whether to expel her or not. Each of the senators needs to
hear from us on this important matter, with phone calls, emails, and
on social media.
We must put pressure on them to do the
right thing and vote to expel Sen. Chappelle-Nadal.
Unity, will you make
your voice heard by taking the following action today?
