A message from US Senator Todd Young <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/Customers/SenYoung/Todd_Young_Ba nner_logo2.png> Indiana Prime Location for New Amazon HQ Indiana is a prime location for Amazon's upcoming investment in a second headquarters. Our state has a robust and talented workforce, an effective transportation infrastructure network, competitive cost-of-living, and a friendly business environment that has allowed Indiana to be the preferred location for a growing number of domestic and foreign businesses. That's why I sent a letter <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx op=13335.8687058.5471327.189397&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.yo ung.senate.gov%2fnewsroom%2fpress-releases%2fyoung-donnelly-urge-amazon- to-consider-indiana-for-second-headquarters-join-surge-of-hoosier-econom ic-growth&redir_log=377465927611137> to Amazon along with Senator Joe Donnelly detailing our strong support for Indiana as Amazon's next home. Tax Reform for Hoosiers For 30 years, we haven't seen a significant tax reform come out of Washington, D.C. As I talk to Indiana families, small businesses, and manufacturers, one thing is clear: Hoosiers want tax relief. Indiana jobs are dependent on lowering taxes, staying competitive against other countries, and simplifying the complex tax code. I heard from Hoosiers in Evansville <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx op=13335.8687058.5471327.189397&report_id=&redirect=http%3a%2f%2f44news. wevv.com%2fu-s-sen-todd-young-talks-tax-reform-44news-morning%2f&redir_l og=110827848351512> last week who are ready for tax reform. Some came with ideas on how to make the House package even better. I welcome all input as the Senate crafts its version of the tax reform bill. <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/Customers/SenYoung/Screen_Shot_2 017-11-06_at_3.46.01_PM.png>

Indiana Prime Location for New Amazon HQ

Indiana is a prime location for Amazon’s upcoming investment in a second headquarters. Our state has a robust and talented workforce, an effective transportation infrastructure network, competitive cost-of-living, and a friendly business environment that has allowed Indiana to be the preferred location for a growing number of domestic and foreign businesses. That’s why I sent a letter to Amazon along with Senator Joe Donnelly detailing our strong support for Indiana as Amazon’s next home.

Tax Reform for Hoosiers

For 30 years, we haven’t seen a significant tax reform come out of Washington, D.C.  As I talk to Indiana families, small businesses, and manufacturers, one thing is clear: Hoosiers want tax relief. Indiana jobs are dependent on lowering taxes, staying competitive against other countries, and simplifying the complex tax code. I heard from Hoosiers in Evansville last week who are ready for tax reform. Some came with ideas on how to make the House package even better. I welcome all input as the Senate crafts its version of the tax reform bill.

Hoosier Judicial Nominees

Last week, Amy Barrett’s judicial nomination was confirmed by the full Senate on a 55 to 43 vote. Notre Dame Law Professor Barrett is the first Hoosier woman to earn a seat on the 7th Circuit Court, and she makes Indiana proud.

I’m proud to also support Hoosier James Sweeney’s nomination for the Southern District of Indiana District Court. As a Marine, and an attorney in the areas of intellectual property and national security, he has earned broad respect from his peers. He will make an excellent judge in one of the most overworked courts in the country. I urge the Senate to act quickly

Clear Message to our Troops

In case you missed it, the Times of Northwest Indiana reported on my efforts to pass a new authorization for use of military force, known as an AUMF, targeting ISIS. It is long past time for Congress to consider and pass a new AUMF sending a clear message to our troops in harm’s way that we have their backs.

Preserving the Lands and Shores of Indiana

Hoosiers cherish our coastline along Lake Michigan and our proximity to all of the Great Lakes. The Great Lakes are one of America's greatest natural resources and are a vital segment of Indiana’s economic infrastructure. As a Vice Chair of the Great Lakes Task Force, I am pleased Senators from across the aisle came together to urge funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative in next year’s budget.

I also announced last week that Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is one step closer to becoming Indiana’s first National Park. This designation will help preserve one of our state’s most precious natural areas, and will provided a boost to the local economy. I will continue working with my colleagues to bring this bill across the finish line in the Senate.

One more thing before you go... Hoosier Huddle Coffee

We had another great Hoosier Huddle last week. I greatly appreciate the Hoosiers  who joined me for coffee, and shared  issues that are important to them. If you’ll be visiting Washington, D.C. I encourage you to stop by. Sign up here.

Thank you for the continued privilege to serve you in the U.S. Senate. My mission is to fight on behalf of Hoosiers and the interests that are unique to our state. I look forward to working with you, and sharing our progress, in the days ahead.
