That is why I testified at a FDA hearing this week to urge the agency to consider placing tighter controls on drugs containing hydrocodone to help curb this epidemic. Later the same day, after listening to West Virginians' heart-wrenching stories that I shared, the committee voted to recommend the FDA reschedule hydrocodone. This is a huge step forward in fighting to help curb the prescription drug abuse epidemic that has ravaged our state and our country. It is now in the FDA's hands. It is my hope that the FDA implements the committee's recommendations and reschedules these addictive drugs immediately.
