Tax Bill Benefits Hoosiers

Senator Todd Young

A message from US Senator Todd Young <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/Customers/SenYoung/Todd_Young_Ba nner_logo2.png> Last week the Senate acted on tax reform for the first time in 30 years. We also repealed the oppressive individual mandate tax of Obamacare as part of the tax reform package. More than 80 percent of people who pay this tax in Indiana earn less than $50,000 per year. This is a big win for Hoosiers. Many American workers have not seen a pay raise in a decade, and more than 50 percent of American families are living paycheck to paycheck. Repealing the Obamacare tax, doubling the standard deduction, doubling the Child Tax Credit, and lowering rates for middle-income Americans will provide needed relief. <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx op=13380.8952134.5525298.189397&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.yo utube.com%2fwatch%3fv%3d_UuYvlacVCw%26t%3d1s&redir_log=266707095722357> Tax Relief for Small Businesses I joined Linda McMahon, head of the Small Business Administration, and several Senate colleagues <outreach.senate.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx op=13380.8952134.5525298.189397&report_id=&redirect=https%3a%2f%2foutrea ch.senate.gov%2fiqextranet%2fiqClickTrk.aspx%3f%26cid%3dSenYoung%26crop% 3d13969.8923434.5525363.7000360%26report_id%3d%26redirect%3dhttps%253a%2 52f%252fwww.facebook.com%252fSenatorToddYoung%252fvideos%252f21397858027 13539%252f%26redir_log%3d629665279546413&redir_log=606350895441585> last week to discuss how the tax relief bill benefits Indiana small businesses and job creators. Tax Relief for Small Businesses

I joined Linda McMahon, head of the Small Business Administration, and several Senate colleagues last week to discuss how the tax relief bill benefits Indiana small businesses and job creators. As someone who grew up in a small business family, I know that small businesses are the lifeblood of Indiana’s economy. My dad worked very hard, often seven days a week, selling HVAC equipment around the Midwest, unfortunately he paid over half of his profits away to various levels of government. How the Senate’s Tax Bill Helps You

In an op-ed for the Indianapolis Star on Sunday, I outlined the benefits of the Senate’s tax reform bill. Hoosier HHS Nominee

I introduced fellow Hoosier Alex Azar at a Senate committee hearing regarding his nomination to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). He is an extremely qualified nominee and an outstanding choice to lead this critical agency.

One More Thing Before You Go... Thanking our Troops

There is not enough we can say or do to express our gratitude to the American servicemen and women who are overseas this holiday season, but we can start by sending thank you cards through the Holiday Mail for Heroes program from the American Red Cross. I had the chance to send a few cards from Capitol Hill. You can do the same by contacting your local Red Cross.

Thank you for the continued privilege to serve you in the U.S. Senate. My mission is to fight on behalf of Hoosiers and the interests that are unique to our state. I look forward to working with you, and sharing our progress, in the days ahead.
