In our rural areas, these postal facilities are more than just places to send and receive mail - they are truly the lifelines of their communities and are often the only way a town is able to stay connected. Although the Postal Service must cut back on spending and get its fiscal house in order, cutting the muscle instead of the fat from its budget will not benefit the agency and will harm our communities in West Virginia and across our country. It was a rare display of unity and solidarity - meant to demonstrate that working together matters more than ideology. This year, at least 40 of us from the left, the right and the middle are taking our effort at across-the-aisle cooperation a step further. During the President's State of the Union address, we will wear orange "Stop Fighting, Start Fixing" pins to identify us as members of Congress' newest group, the No Label's Problem Solvers.
