Christmas is almost upon us

Dear friend, I’ll keep this brief, because Christmas is almost upon us. This week and next, most American college students are home with their families, and parents are assessing whether they are getting their money’s worth. In the great majority of cases, I can assure you, these students are not learning the most important things from a civic standpoint: the history of America and of our nation’s great heritage of liberty. Students at Hillsdale College learn these things—indeed, we are one of very few colleges that still require every student to take a one-semester course on the U.S. Constitution. Hillsdale extends its teaching of America’s heritage of liberty nationwide through its vast educational outreach effort—including its sponsorship of 17 classical K-12 charter schools. We are able to do this because of our principled independence—we refuse to accept even one penny of government money, even indirectly in the form of taxpayer-subsidized student grants and loans. Will you help sustain Hillsdale’s independence with a year-end gift? Our year-end goal to stay on budget is $2,000,000.
