Hi, Mary --
This is an inflection moment in the history of our country where we as a nation need to look ourselves in the mirror and ask: "Who are we?"
Every single one of us can form the answer to that question by participating in the 2018 midterm election. The fate of our country is in our hands -- and it's up to us to decide which direction we will take.
Next year, we have a critical opportunity to show our nation is ready to move forward. To show that we will fight for our ideals of justice, equality, and tolerance.
Today, I am asking you to join that fight because our work starts now. Not next week, or next month, or next November. It starts now, so I am asking you today:
Make a $10 contribution before the end-of-year fundraising deadline on Sunday to show you are ready to fight in 2018. Your contribution will help elect Democrats in all 50 states who will work to get our country back on track.
We must create a system where all people have access to affordable health care. It should not matter where you live, how much money you make, or whether you have a pre-existing condition. Health care is a right -- and all people deserve quality care.
We must reform the criminal justice system to ensure it treats everyone fairly and does not disproportionately arrest and incarcerate people of color. That means fighting Jeff Sessions' attempts to revive the failed war on drugs and reforming the cash bail system that stacks the deck against low-income folks.
We must stand up for immigrants -- including the young people who depend on DACA and have earned the right to stay in the country they call home. We made a promise to DREAMers and it is our responsibility to hold up our end of the deal.
We have a fight in front of us. But we can win it if we stand together, united.
Contribute $10 or more ahead of Sunday's deadline if you are ready to elect Democrats everywhere who will stand up for our values. We can't do it without you.
Together, we'll make calls, knock doors, text, tweet, and march to remind our neighbors, friends, and family members that the future of our country is in our hands.
Thanks for all you do.
U.S. Senator, California
