As I started my 2nd term in Congress a year ago, I had no idea I would be sending a message like this, Unity. But something that I learned in my 26
years in the military is sometimes our great democracy asks for more than we are expecting to give.
And I will always answer that call, Unity.
That is why I am honored and humbled to announce that I am running for U.S. Senate in Arizona. I know what our nation needs now is
proven conservative leadership and a clear-eyed determination to fix the countless failures of a bloated government that has lost sight of its purpose
to serve the American people.
Our nation faces challenges unique to any other time in our history, and we need leaders who are equipped to find meaningful solutions - not add to
the same business as usual and partisan fights.
I have spent my life overcoming obstacles in service to our nation, and I am prepared to do so again in the U.S. Senate.
I proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years and despite being told I could not because of an archaic policy, I became the first female
fighter pilot to fly in combat in our nation's history. I flew over 300 hours in the massively powerful A-10, and later became the first ever
female squadron commander. I served six tours of duty in combat zones, where I personally engaged in combat to defeat terrorism.
After retiring as a full colonel, I knew my service to our great nation was not done. So, I ran and won election to the U.S. House, where I
have proven that I have what it takes to get things done in Washington.
I have taken my mission in Washington just as serious as those on the battlefield, and each day I am "deployed in D.C." is spent fighting for the
reforms our government needs. After serving less than three years in the Congress, I have already authored 18 bills that have passed the
House and two have become law. These bills tackle the most serious problems that face Americans today -- border security, healthcare, our
national security and more.
Unity, this is not a decision I have come to lightly. I know the road ahead will not be easy. But I also know that fighting for our future is worth

For the first time in a generation, Republicans have the opportunity to turn our nation away from the path of big government which reaches
more and more into the lives of Americans and back to our foundational principles.
In order to do this, we must maintain a Republican majority in the Senate. If we fail to do so, the Democrats will be able to halt
the progress we are making in advancing the America First agenda. As you know, our majority is narrow so every seat is critical, and with the recent
changes in the political climate here, the Democrats are working overtime to win in Arizona.
That's why I am beginning my fight now, and why I"am asking you to join me. With Democrats
already sending record amounts of money and activists to Arizona, this is going to be an uphill battle and I am counting on people like you to stand
I'm looking forward to what the future holds, and I hope you are too.
P.S. We are at a critical moment in our nation's history, and we cannot afford to let it slip through our grasp. We have a chance to secure and
strengthen our future, and I hope you will stand with me in the battle ahead. It won't be easy but it's going to be worth it. Thanks, Martha.
