Out of time

Friend -- Last night, conservative leaders ran out of time: With the House, Senate, and White House all at their disposal, they failed to pass a bill funding the government, and we've entered a shutdown. Instead of working on a comprehensive, bipartisan bill to keep the government open, this administration and their rubber stamps in Congress refused to work across the aisle. They could have funded CHIP and protected DREAMers -- policies that have overwhelming public support -- but instead gave in to the most extreme members of their caucus. Now, we're facing a government shutdown that could have serious consequences -- in 2013, the 16-day conservative-led shutdown cost our economy $24 billion. And it's not just costly -- shutdowns create completely unnecessary chaos. If you agree this is unacceptable, make your voice heard now, and we'll follow up with ways you can get involved in this fight: my.ofa.us/Fund-CHIP-Protect-DREAMers It's congressional leaders' job to keep our government open so that people across the country can access the services they rely on. Elected officials have had months to work across the aisle to come up with a common-sense solution to ensure millions of kids can get the health care they need, and that the hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients get the protection they deserve. This shutdown isn't just disappointing. It's reckless governing, and we can't just stay silent and let it happen. OFA supporters are demanding that Congress pass a comprehensive funding bill -- one that funds CHIP, and helps the 800,000 DREAMers who deserve protection. Friend --

Last night, conservative leaders ran out of time: With the House, Senate, and White House all at their disposal, they failed to pass a bill funding the government, and we've entered a shutdown.

If you agree this is unacceptable, make your voice heard now, and we'll follow up with ways you can get involved in this fight.

It's congressional leaders' job to keep our government open so that people across the country can access the services they rely on.

Say you'll be a part of this fight.
