I am looking forward to my next tele-townhall meeting that will occur on March 13. I plan on doing a "Let's Talk" tele-townhall event every month on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m MST (9:00 p.m EST). If you would like to be added to our VIP call list, so that you can be included each time we hold a tele-townhall, please visit this page on my website and fill out the form: www.lee.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/tele-townhall-meetings [link 1] Those who participated online were able to watch a live stream of the event and submit questions through our web portal, Facebook, and Twitter. If you would prefer to participate online instead of being added to our call list, I recommend that you bookmark the following links: Click here to connect through Facebook [link 2] Click here to connect through the web portal [link 3] I am always encouraged when I am able to discuss with my fellow Utahns the national challenges that we are facing in Washington. During my last event, Utahns demonstrated an acute awareness of the federal government's intentions to increase its influence into our lives. Utahns are genuinely concerned about threats to their individual liberty. They are worried that our prosperity as a nation will be undermined by reckless spending in Washington. They also want to see their representatives work together to solve these problems. The next few weeks in the Senate will be busy as I work to address the federal spending sequester, defend our 2nd Amendment rights, and work to enact sensible reform to our broken immigration system. Mark your calendars for our March 13 event to get a personal update from me on these issues. * 2012 Annual Report Scavenger Hunt* Last week I had the privilege of delivering my annual address to the Utah State Legislature (You can watch my address here [link 4]). I always look forward to meeting with the local political leaders of the state. I am proud to live in a state that fulfills its basic obligations year in and year out. It is no surprise every year when our state legislature passes a balanced budget. We are now approaching 1,400 days in Washington since the Democrat-led Senate has passed a budget at all. We now have a $16 trillion dollar national debt to show for it. Every year when I visit the legislature, I also provide them with a copy of my annual report. My office produces this document to provide a summary of my service in the Senate, and to hold myself accountable to the people for whom I work. This year, the featured section of the annual report focuses on my Saving the American Dream budget. I chose to highlight my budget, because I want Utahns to know that I am proposing thoughtful and responsible solutions to some of our biggest problems. In order to encourage you to browse through this report and familiarize yourself with my work, we created a 7-question scavenger hunt. You can answer these questions through my website. Everyone who answers each of the questions correctly will receive a signed copy of my annual report. This is an open-book scavenger hunt, and you can work with your friends. Hopefully you will learn a few things that you might not have known about my service as your senator.
