This Sunday, Our Revolution joined almost a dozen national organizations to hold a day of action marking the eighth anniversary of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. Along with Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's and Stamp Stampede, over 18,000 people pledged to stamp 1.9 million bills with messages like “NOT TO BE USED FOR BUYING POLITICIANS,” and more than twice as many tuned in to the livestream. This viral marketing campaign raises awareness about money in politics, but we need to do more than that. We need your support.
Please chip in $5 to Our Revolution and help us build the grassroots movement to take on the special interests and Super PACs. We need to tell people the truth about what is going on in our democracy and fight back against any attempts to divide us or drag us backward.
For eight years, Citizens United has allowed unlimited corporate spending in our elections. The Supreme Court's decision that corporations are people and money is speech has allowed billionaires and special interests to buy politicians and form Super PACs to spread ugly, misleading attacks. We have to overturn this rule. Each day that Citizens United remains in effect moves us further from democracy and closer to oligarchy.
The greed of the billionaire class knows no bounds, but we can fight back. While billionaires spread misinformation with TV ads, Our Revolution volunteers are organizing, holding meetings, phone banks, canvasses, and other actions to connect people with their neighbors and talk about the real issues we face in our communities. You can help these efforts.
Make a $5 contribution and help us get organized in our communities. With more than 500 local groups already formed, we're building a movement to take on Citizens United and the special interests with a progressive vision to get money out of politics.
Together, we will overturn Citizens United and return our democracy to serve all of its people, not just those with the biggest pockets.
