A new message from your friends at People For the American Way. *********************** Anne, This Monday, on the eve of Trump’s first State of the Union Address, our nonpartisan affiliate PFAW Foundation’s Young Elected Officials (YEO) Network will announce the launch of an exciting new project: AMERICA’S CABINET. America’s Cabinet is a group of young local elected officials speaking out about what Washington should be doing now to support communities across America and offering a positive vision for how America can live up to its promise. The Cabinet is made up of young elected officials from across the country who are pioneering a new policy agenda for the future of the country. It is an agenda that moves us forward on the path toward a more perfect union, reflecting the hopes and dreams of Americans of all backgrounds. Immediately following the official America’s Cabinet launch event, we’ll hold a special briefing call on the project for PFAW members, including several Cabinet members as our guests. Please join us this Monday, January 29, at 3:30pm Eastern Time (2:30 Central; 1:30 Mountain; 12:30 Pacific). As always, space will be limited. RSVP today to reserve your spot and get the call-in information>> act.pfaw.org/sign/rsvp-telebriefing-americas-cabinet/ The Cabinet itself offers a stark contrast to our current president’s actual cabinet -- an alternative vision that holds true to our nation’s core values. But this project was created to go beyond voicing opposition to harmful policies coming out of Washington today. The idea is to offer policy ideas to ensure we create a nation that works for all Americans. Our nation is at a critical crossroad and America’s Cabinet is here to offer bold policy recommendations tackling issues that impact everyday Americans. At a time when key parts of our democracy -- from the freedom of the press to the judicial branch -- are under threat, we need state and local leaders to defend our sacred institutions and our founding traditions. Just to give you a quick glimpse, here are two America’s Cabinet members: Colorado State Representative Faith Winter, as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has been in the legislature since 2014 and previously held positions such as field organizer for Green Corps, national program director for EnviroCitizen, and program director for Colorado Conservation Voters. Milwaukee, WI School Board Director Paula Phillips, as Secretary of Education, first came to Milwaukee as an AmeriCorps volunteer with Public Allies, then continued to build her career in the nonprofit sector at City Year Milwaukee. A first-generation college graduate who has a B.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics with a certificate in Global Health, Paula has worked as an organizer and continues to work to empower women and promote diverse leadership in her various roles. Now just compare these two leaders to Trump’s EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos… Join us to find out much more about this project on the eve of Trump’s State of the Union Address this Monday at 3:30pm ET. Anne -- There's still room on today's member briefing call for you!

Previous message:

Anne,

This Monday, on the eve of Trump’s first State of the Union Address, our nonpartisan affiliate PFAW Foundation’s Young Elected Officials (YEO) Network will announce the launch of an exciting new project: AMERICA’S CABINET.

The Cabinet itself offers a stark contrast to our current president’s actual cabinet -- an alternative vision that holds true to our nation’s core values.

Just to give you a quick glimpse, here are two America’s Cabinet members:

  • Colorado State Representative Faith Winter, as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has been in the legislature since 2014 and previously held positions such as field organizer for Green Corps, national program director for EnviroCitizen, and program director for Colorado Conservation Voters.
  • Milwaukee, WI School Board Director Paula Phillips, as Secretary of Education, first came to Milwaukee as an AmeriCorps volunteer with Public Allies, then continued to build her career in the nonprofit sector at City Year Milwaukee. A first-generation college graduate who has a B.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics with a certificate in Global Health, Paula has worked as an organizer and continues to work to empower women and promote diverse leadership in her various roles.

Now just compare these two leaders to Trump’s EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos…

Join us to find out much more about this project on the eve of Trump’s State of the Union Address this Monday at 3:30pm ET.

Thanks and hope to talk to you then!
