7   March 13   remembering Rosa Dear Friend, Something special happened in the Capitol last week. Congress and President Obama came together to dedicate a statue to Rosa Parks and her lasting legacy. Out of the 108 statues in the Capitol, Rosa's is the first, full-length statue of an African American woman. It is also the first statue to be commissioned by Congress since the 1870s. Get an up-close look at the new statue in Statuary Hall as we marked this historic day. Rosa Parks rightfully earned her place in history for her great leadership in the Civil Rights Movement, and she has now earned a place in Statuary Hall. It is important that visitors to the Capitol, especially children, see the history of the United States more fully represented by all the different people who have impacted our country. Join me for a look at this statue to a true American hero. When I walk through the halls of the Capitol, I see many great heroes of our democracy. Rosa Parks most certainly deserves a place among them, and I'm proud that she is finally there. All the best,     Please contact Sen.
