It was introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). The health law will increase health care costs, explode our debt, and penalize job creator, so it should be repealed. As our economy struggles to rebound, now is not the time to saddle employers, trying to grow their businesses, with more costly red tape from the federal government. This amendment would remove the massive costs, regulations, and ambiguity associated with the ill-advised health law. Both of these amendments would help our federal government make smart and responsible decisions when it comes to the budget. Our nation simply cannot continue to over spend the way we have for the last four years, in which time our nation's debt has grown by an astonishing $5.3 trillion dollars. As the budget process moves forward, I will continue to work with my colleagues to craft a budget that will rein in out-of-control spending and help grow our economy. Senator Johanns e-Update
March 13, 2013

Today, I cosponsored two amendments to the Senate’s bill to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year. The would protect essential functions such as meat inspections, control tower operations, and border security by simply giving agency and department heads flexibility so there is no excuse for essential services to be the first things on the chopping block.

The  would block funding for the implementation of the President’s health care law.

Our nation simply cannot continue to over spend the way we have for the last four years, in which time our nation’s debt has grown by an astonishing $5.3 trillion dollars. As the budget process moves forward, I will continue to work with my colleagues to craft a budget that will rein in out-of-control spending and help grow our economy.
