Carper's Connection Treat every day like it's Earth Day April 22, 2013 Hi there, Today is a very special day for me: Earth Day. Forty-three years ago, as a young Naval Flight Officer stationed outside of San Francisco for training, I attended the first Earth Day celebration. From that day on, I became fascinated by our environment and was convinced that we could all play a role in maintaining the health and well-being of our planet and all of us who live on it. That's why I recorded this special message that you're seeing first. www.carper.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/carpers-corner As a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee in the Senate, I work with my colleagues every day to try to address environmental challenges ranging from air pollution to rising sea levels and global temperatures to more violent storms like Hurricane Sandy. For me, every day is Earth Day. But cleaning up our air and being better stewards of our earth is, as we say in the Navy, an all-hands-on-deck challenge. If we all do just a little bit -- choosing to recycle more or to get to work or school by carpooling, public transportation or biking or walking -- then we can make serious strides to improve our environment, our public health, and our economy. Together, our small choices can make a big difference. Happy Earth Day, U.S. Senator Tom Carper

Hi there,

Today is a very special day for me: Earth Day.

As a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee in the Senate, I work with my colleagues every day to try to address environmental challenges ranging from air pollution to rising sea levels and global temperatures to more violent storms like Hurricane Sandy.

Happy Earth Day,

U.S. Senator Tom Carper
