I’m counting on your help

Dear Unity, This week, I continued my work to protect American consumers when I turned my focus toward an industry affecting the buying potential for millions of folks across the country. And once again, it was your personal stories that made the difference. In my first Consumer Protection Subcommittee hearing, I heard about common failures and errors on our credit reports that result in millions of people every year paying more for or being denied credit, housing, and even job opportunities. I highlighted the story of Brenda Campbell, who lives just outside Springfield and spent years fighting to correct errors on her credit report, and was eventually forced to bring her case to trial. Brenda is still experiencing problems with her credit report today. With the help of people like Brenda, and a St. Louis area doctor who I spoke about in my Financial and Contracting Oversight hearing, I'm working to bring Missourians' stories to the Senate in order to better protect consumers, crack down on scams, and focus on how we can save billions of taxpayer dollars. I need to hear more of your tips and stories. That's why I've launched a new tool on my website, www.McCaskill.senate.gov. The "Submit Your Scam" button allows you, the consumer, to tell me your personal stories to help me better crack down on inappropriate or predatory practices. I encourage anyone who's encountered practices they thought were wrong or illegal to go to my website and report them. All submissions are confidential, and my staff and I will review each one as we work to plan future investigations. As Chairman of these two subcommittees, I'll continue to rely on your help to highlight problems that are costing you money and unfairly hurting you as a consumer. I'll be sure to keep you updated as we continue to investigate and root out the sources of waste, fraud, and abuse. I look forward to hearing from you. And as always, you can contact me via email, Facebook or Twitter. All the best, P.S. Dear Unity,

This week, I continued my work to protect American consumers when I turned my focus toward an industry affecting the buying potential for millions of folks across the country.

All the best,
