I serve as the lead Republican on the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, which has oversight of the IRS budget, and I intend to uncover the truth about this harassment of conservative groups. Every Member of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, owes it to the American people to demand answers about this alarming practice - including who knew about it and when, who authorized it, and why it was allowed to continue for so long. There are a lot of other things going on this week in Washington, and in addition to getting answers about the IRS's practices, I will be focused on the markup of the farm bill, which begins tomorrow morning in the Senate Ag Committee. This will likely last all day, but I will keep you informed of the developments that come out of this markup. Senator Johanns e-Update
May 13, 2013

Today, to Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) calling for the committee to hold a hearing on the recently revealed IRS practices of targeting conservative groups for practicing their 1st Amendment Rights.

I serve as the lead Republican on the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, which has oversight of the IRS budget, and I intend to uncover the truth about this harassment of conservative groups. Every Member of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, owes it to the American people to demand answers about this alarming practice – including who knew about it and when, who authorized it, and why it was allowed to continue for so long.

There are a lot of other things going on this week in Washington, and in addition to getting answers about the IRS’s practices, I will be focused on the markup of the farm bill, which begins tomorrow morning in the Senate Ag Committee. This will likely last all day, but I will keep you informed of the developments that come out of this markup.
