This legislation would authorize the U.S. Treasury to mint commemorative coins to mark Boys Town's 100th anniversary celebration in 2017. Nebraska is the proud home of Boys Town, which serves more than 2 million children and families nationwide each year. Children in our state and across the country have a second chance and a new outlook on life thanks to Boys Town. As one of the largest nonprofits in the country to serve underprivileged and at-risk children, Boys Town deserves to be recognized in an extraordinary way. The commemorative coin is one small way to honor the incredible selflessness of all those who had a hand in its success, from Boys Town founder Father Edward Flanagan to current director Father Steven Boes. The $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and half-dollar clad coins would be sold in 2017 and 2018 in limited quantities. All associated costs would be covered by the sale of the coins. Senator Johanns e-Update
May 22, 2013

Today, I introduced the Boys Town Centennial Commemorative Coin Act with Senator Deb Fischer. This legislation would authorize the U.S. Treasury to mint commemorative coins to mark Boys Town’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2017.
