Mark Pryor and I introduced a bipartisan amendment to the immigration reform bill which would strengthen America's border security by recruiting highly-skilled military members and veterans to serve in border security positions. Many of the valuable skills our military men and women gain protecting our nation can be used right here at home to secure our borders. This amendment will encourage our current and former military service men and women to pursue jobs in border security. We need the best and brightest to stand guard at our border, and I can think of no one better trained for this role than our military members and veterans. My amendment requires the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to actively recruit National Guard and Reserve members and veterans to serve as Customs and Border Protection and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents. I believe a secure border is essential to any immigration reform effort. Senator Johanns e-Update
June 17, 2013

Today, Sen. Mark Pryor and I introduced a bipartisan amendment to the immigration reform bill which would strengthen America’s border security by recruiting highly-skilled military members and veterans to serve in border security positions.
