In his speech, the President outlined plans to impose these costly new regulations through executive order, cutting out Congress in order to hammer existing power plants. This is bad news for every family, small business and manufacturing company that relies on affordable energy. Even when the President's party had a super-majority in Congress and didn't need a single vote from the other side of the aisle, they could not pass this ill-advised greenhouse gas regime. Now the President has decided to impose these costly restrictions on the American people through Administrative fiat. The American people and Congress have rejected this new domestic energy tax time and time again; it is remarkable that the President is doubling down to drive jobs overseas and drive up your monthly electricity bill. I'm also disappointed in his announcement that he is again moving the goalposts on the Keystone XL pipeline. The project would bring thousands of jobs and new access to energy at a time we need both. There's no justification for further delay. Senator Johanns e-Update
June 25, 2013

President Obama today outlined an economy-crushing “climate” plan that could further delay construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and raise electricity costs. In his speech, the President outlined plans to impose these costly new regulations through executive order, cutting out Congress in order to hammer existing power plants. This is bad news for every family, small business and manufacturing company that relies on affordable energy.

Even when the President’s party had a super-majority in Congress and didn’t need a single vote from the other side of the aisle, they could not pass this ill-advised greenhouse gas regime.  Now the President has decided to impose these costly restrictions on the American people through Administrative fiat.  The American people and Congress have rejected this new domestic energy tax time and time again; it is remarkable that the President is doubling down to drive jobs overseas and drive up your monthly electricity bill.

I’m also disappointed in his announcement that he is again moving the goalposts on the Keystone XL pipeline. The project would bring thousands of jobs and new access to energy at a time we need both. There’s no justification for further delay.
