The Kirk Report Dear Friends, At home last week, I spent some time listening to what is important to you. Nothing matters more to me than understanding what needs to be done to make our state a better place to live. Last Wednesday, I toured the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital where I met several of our nation's heroes. We swapped stories about rehabilitation experiences, and I highlighted the serious VA claims backlog our veterans face. It is unacceptable that Illinois veterans are waiting for more than a year to have their claims processed. [image = www.kirk.senate.gov/images/hinesva.JPG] [link 1] To read about my visit, clickhere [link 2]. To learn more about about the claims backlog and my bipartisan plan to fix it, clickhere [link 3]. I was honored to take part in the groundbreaking for Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's state-of-the-art medical facility. If it were not for RIC, I would not be walking today. The facility will feature cutting-edge technology meant to change the way physical medicine and rehabilitation is delivered in the United States with five interdisciplinary Innovation Centers to dedicated brain, spinal cord, nervous system and limb impairments in adults and children. Dear Friends,

Last week, I spent some time listening to what is important to you.
