Celebrating the F- 35!Dear Friend:This week, I had the opportunity to get an up close look at the progress of one of our country’s next great military advancements – the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter – at ATK’s headquarters in Clearfield, Utah. ATK just completed a mobile cockpit demonstrator, which I had the chance to test out myself - signaling the completion of a key part of the development of the F-35.(Enjoying a Demonstration in the F-35 Mobile Cockpit)Make no mistake about it, this state-of-the-art aircraft will play a critical role in the defense of our nation, and the future work at Hill Air Force Base. It is a single-seat, single-engine, fifth generation fighter that will be able to perform ground attacks, and reconnaissance and air defense missions – all under the cloak of unrivalled stealth technology. The F-35 program has and will continue to have a tremendous financial impact on our state. For instance, Hill Air Force Base will house the Air Force’s first operational squadron – the 388th Fighter Wing; and the Ogden Air Logistics Complex has the assignment for repairing critical parts of the F-35, including its airframes, and will also sustain the software essential to flying and maintaining this plane. Furthermore, at ATK’s Clearfield facility, many important parts of the F-35, including the cockpit demonstrator, are being built. My hat goes off to the many men and women who’ve worked so hard to help bring this project together. Their dedication and work is for the noblest of causes – the defense of our great nation. I look forward to the success of the F-35 program and the continued commitment to excellence that the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office and industry partners demonstrated this week.Sincerely,Orrin Hatch

Celebrating the F- 35!

Dear Friend:

This week, I had the opportunity to get an up close look at the progress of one of our country’s next great military advancements – the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter – at ATK’s headquarters in Clearfield, Utah. ATK just completed a mobile cockpit demonstrator, which I had the chance to test out myself - signaling the completion of a key part of the development of the F-35.

(Enjoying a Demonstration in the F-35 Mobile Cockpit)

Make no mistake about it, this state-of-the-art aircraft will play a critical role in the defense of our nation, and the future work at Hill Air Force Base.

I look forward to the success of the F-35 program and the continued commitment to excellence that the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office and industry partners demonstrated this week.

Sincerely,

Orrin Hatch
