Carper's Connection September 13, 2013 Each August, Congress takes time to go back to our home states and interact with the people that we represent. This time is precious to me because it gives me the opportunity to connect with the people of Delaware and learn how I am doing and what we in Congress can do better. This year, I traveled up and down the First State attending as many events and meeting as many people as I could. Here are a two of my favorite events from my time home: Along with Senator Chris Coons and Congressman John Carney, I convened two job fairs specifically for veterans in Delaware in Bridgeville and Middletown. Our vets and their families sacrificed so much for our country. The least we can do is equip them with the tools and resources they need when they return from duty. It was great to meet with veterans and learn what we need to be doing to truly thank them for their service. We also took to the beach in Fenwick to see how the beach renourishment project was coming along. The broad, clean beaches and dunes are vital not only to tourism, a vibrant industry in Delaware, but also proved vital to protecting our homes and businesses during the past two super storms that hit our shores. Needless to say, I had a great August. If I didn't get the opportunity to see you in person, I would love to hear how you think I am doing and what more you think we can be doing to help Delaware and America grow. Please send me your thoughts, here. Thanks, U.S. Senator Tom Carper

Each August, Congress takes time to go back to our home states and work with the people that we represent. This time is precious to me because it gives me the opportunity to connect with the people of Delaware and learn how I am doing and what we in Congress can do better. This August, I traveled up and down the First State attending as many events and meetings with as many people as I could. I wanted to share with you two of my favorite events from my time home:

Along with Senator Chris Coons and Congressman John Carney, I convened two job fairs specifically for veterans in Delaware in Bridgeville and Middletown. Our vets and their families sacrificed so much for our country. The least we can do is equip them with the tools and resources they need when they return from duty. I welcomed this opportunity to meet with our veterans, help them find jobs, and learn more about what we need to do do to truly thank them for their service.

We also took to the beach in Fenwick to see how the federally funded beach renourishment project was coming along. These broad, clean beaches and dunes are essential not only for tourism, a vibrant industry in Delaware, but they also proved vital to protecting our homes and businesses during the past two super storms that hit our shores.

Needless to say, I had a great August. If I didn't get the opportunity to see you in person, I would love to hear how you think I am doing and what more you think we can be doing to help Delaware and America thrive. Please send me your thoughts, Thanks,

U.S. Senator Tom Carper
