On July 20, the initial deadline for
the P5+1 nuclear agreement with Iran will come and go. An extension
only gives Iran more time to make a nuclear bomb.

The Menendez-Kirk sanctions bill, S. 1881, is strongly
bipartisan with 60 cosponsors in the Senate, including 17 Democrats � but a
vote continues to be blocked. Now, as the original deadline for
negotiating a deal with Iran has come, we are faced with a real and looming
nuclear threat from Iran.
As the President and Secretary
Kerry have both stated, sanctions set the table for negotiations. With
more pressure on Iran, the administration would be more likely to
obtain an agreement that prevents a nuclear Iran.
