From our ability to freely practice religion to our right to vote in elections without fear of violence or persecution, we too often take our freedoms for granted. We can never do enough to thank our veterans and their families for their endless sacrifices protecting these freedoms. We must be diligent in our efforts to ensure our veterans receive the benefits and care they've been promised. It's a responsibility I take seriously as a member of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, and I was pleased to support legislation to expand care to veterans earlier this year. We must now work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to ensure they're making the necessary changes to regain the trust of our veterans. We are incredibly blessed to be protected by the greatest military in the world. May God bless our service members and their families as they continue to put everything on the line in the name of freedom. Senator Johanns e-Update
November 11, 2014

This Veterans Day, as we pause to honor the men and women who have served in uniform, may we also express gratitude for the ideals and freedoms they continue to protect. From our ability to freely practice religion to our right to vote in elections without fear of violence or persecution, we too often take our freedoms for granted.  We can never do enough to thank our veterans and their families for their endless sacrifices protecting these freedoms.

We must be diligent in our efforts to ensure our veterans receive the benefits and care they’ve been promised. It’s a responsibility I take seriously as a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and I was pleased to support legislation to expand care to veterans earlier this year. We must now work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to ensure they’re making the necessary changes to regain the trust of our veterans.

We are incredibly blessed to be protected by the greatest military in the world. May God bless our service members and their families as they continue to put everything on the line in the name of freedom.
